Northern Sonoma County Fire Welcomes 10 New Firefighters Thanks to Measure H
Northern Sonoma County Fire has officially welcomed 10 new firefighters to its ranks, increasing staffing at the Geyserville and Cloverdale fire stations and reinforcing the fire district’s ability to respond to emergencies across the northern part of Sonoma County.
These positions are the direct result of Measure H, the voter approved funding measure that the Professional Firefighters of Sonoma County Local 1401 (L1401) championed to bring sustainable fire protection to our communities.
The additional staffing builds on recent gains across the county, including new positions added at Gold Ridge, Schell-Vista, and Graton Fire Districts, showing how Measure H is delivering on its promise to protect lives and property across Sonoma County.
“This isn’t just a win for one department, it’s a win for the entire region,” said Matt Tognozzi, President of L1401. “Measure H was about ensuring our communities have the firefighters they need when an emergency happens. With these 10 new positions in Northern Sonoma County, we’re turning that promise into action.”
For rural communities like Geyserville and Cloverdale, where coverage areas are large and resources are limited, the new firefighters will make a major difference in response times and firefighter safety.
“Measure H is doing what we said it would, we are putting more firefighters on the line and improving service for the people who count on us,” said Joe Stewart, L1401 Vice President and a Captain with Northern Sonoma County Fire. “These new hires are a big step forward for our communities, and they’re part of something bigger, we’re building a stronger, more resilient fire service across Northern Sonoma County.”
L1401 remains committed to ensuring every corner of Sonoma County receives the fire protection it deserves. These new positions are just one example of what happens when firefighters and the public work together to invest in safety.
