Professional Firefighters of Sonoma County L1401 Supporting Southern California Wildfire Response
The Professional Firefighters of Sonoma County L1401 have once again answered the call to assist with the devastating wildfires currently raging in Southern California. Crews from Northern Sonoma County, Rancho Adobe, Santa Rosa, Sonoma County Fire District, and Gold Ridge are actively deployed, contributing their skills and determination to protect lives, property, and communities in need.
Having battled major fires like the Kincade Fire, Tubbs Fire, and Glass Fire, Sonoma County firefighters know all too well the devastating toll wildfires can take on families, homes, and entire communities. Their firsthand experience with these catastrophic events has not only sharpened their expertise but also deepened their resolve to provide aid when others face similar crises.
The Palisades Fire, near Pacific Palisades, and the Eaton Fire, in the San Gabriel Valley, have already scorched tens of thousands of acres and left a trail of destruction in their wake. These fires mirror the intense conditions Sonoma County has faced in recent years, with high winds, dry vegetation, and extreme fire behavior making containment efforts incredibly challenging.
With over 35 L1401 members deployed, and additional units on standby, our firefighters are bringing invaluable experience from the firelines of Northern California to the communities of Southern California. Their knowledge of wildfire behavior, strategic firefighting tactics, and community protection is critical in these ongoing efforts.
As the fires continue to threaten lives and property, we stand in solidarity with those affected. Our thoughts are with everyone who has experienced loss and displacement. We are incredibly proud of the brave men and women representing Sonoma County in these operations, demonstrating courage, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to helping others in their time of greatest need.
Please keep these firefighters in your thoughts as they work tirelessly under dangerous conditions to bring these fires under control. For the latest updates, follow official incident reports from CAL FIRE.
Stay safe, and thank you to all those who continue to protect and serve on the front lines.
